Frequently asked questions: Smoke dampers
Q: How long should the cords of the damper regulator be?
A: A standard cord is 3 metres in length on each side, which is sufficient if the smoke damper is at a maximum height of 5 metres. If the damper is located higher than 5 metres, please mention this in connection with your order and we will provide longer cords.
Q: Can you also use the Polar damper regulator on smoke dampers manufactured by companies other than Polar Metalli?
A: No, because the handles and frames of the smoke dampers are different, whereby the attachment will not work.
Q: In what colours are the damper regulators available?
A: Black and white
Q: I don’t know what smoke damper model I have, but I would like a damper regulator.
A: Accurately measure the front plate (width, height and between the screw holes), as this information is necessary to proceed.
Q: Can a damper regulator be installed afterwards?
A: Yes. Generally the damper regulator is installed during the fitting phase, in order to ensure a clean, neat result.
Q: What lengths of extension pieces for the handle are available?
A: 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 cm. Longer pieces can be made to order.
Q: What material is used to manufacture the smoke dampers?
A: The standard and renovation dampers are made from acid-resistant steel. Frame 1.5 mm, interior section 4 mm and possible sliding plate 1.5 mm. The handle is an 8 mm acid-resistant rod. The front plate is black iron that has been powder painted. The frame of the summer damper is 4 mm black iron.
